A wise man told his grandson: “There’s a battle between two spirits inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness and truth.”
The boy thought about it and asked: “Which spirit wins?”
The wise man replied: “The one you feed.”
賢人が孫にこう言った:「私達の中では常に二つの心が戦っている。一つは悪だ。それは怒りであり、嫉妬や欲、憤り、劣等感、 嘘とエゴだ。もう一つは善だ。それは喜びであり、平和と愛、希望や謙遜、優しさ、信実だ。」
少年は考えてからこう聞いた:「どっちが勝つの？」
賢人はこう答えた:「お前が育んだ方だよ。」
